Thank goodness gracious it's Friday!

Last night I made this Fall wreath from the Tricks + Treats Fabric Wreath DIY on A Beautiful Mess, I wasn't expecting it to turn out, but it did, and it used up a bunch of old fabric! It looks so festive on our little white door. I want to make one for Christmas.
This is her cute wreath:

To my understanding this is a comedy show of the character 'Pat' on Saturday Night Live. Show that combines songs and tales of joys and obstacles in life and the humor required to accept them all. Looks funny.

The Belly Up
Saturday, November 6th at 9pm

The description by the Belly Up is too perfect to mess with, "Dr. Dog is influenced by the sounds of th '60s, with a little bit of The Band here, a little bit of The Beach Boys there, and a sprinkling of Nuggets-style psychedelic pop on top.

7. The Really Really Free Market
Public Park @ Orange and 40th Street
Sunday, November 7 from 11am to 2pm

This seems super cool and I want to check it out to see what goes on, I wonder what goodies people bring. The poster says the wrong date but it is for this Sunday November 7.

Take a Walk With Me To The Meditation Gardens...

I am ashamed to say I have lived in Encinitas my entire life and have never been to the Meditation Gardens at Swami's until last Friday. My best friend Ingrid took me and I have to say I will definitely be back, it is so pretty, you feel like you have just escaped to this wonderful far off land, when actually you are just steps away from civilization. We went to St. Germain's for breakfast (which I had also not been to) and it was delicious!

The Koi fish are definitely my favorite part, I could watch them swim forever, look at this huge orange one above, he was super slow and just swam into the other fish to make them move!

The pretty, pretty ocean.
Happy Day!

Movember

In 2010 tragically more than 32,000 men will die as a direct result of prostate cancer.

The 'Mo," slang for mustache, and the November come together each year for Movember.
Each Movember men are challenged to change their appearance and face of men's health by growing a mustache. The mustache used to raise awareness and funds for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the commitment of Movember is to grow a mustache for 30 days. Funds raised benefit the Prostate Cancer Foundation and LIVESTRONG.

What an awesome cause and awesome way to raise awareness about prostate cancer.

We are all just trying to get through this crazy thing we call life,
it's easier if we do it together...

Banana Bread for After You Vote!

This is the most amazing banana bread in the world, it was my Grandma's recipe. She was an amazing baker, cook, sewer extravaganza and person. I miss her but know she is a huge part of me. She had this problem we would always tease her about, she would only write down the ingredients to her recipes, not  the measurements or directions, just the ingredients, because she knew exactly what she was talking about. It has taken a while for us to remember and figure out many of her recipes, but it is definitely worth it. Here is her amazing banana bread recipe, and I am sure I will share many more of her wonderful recipes.

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 cup banana (usually 2 bananas)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup nuts (optional)

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat throughly. Add banana and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add alternating with milk.

Bake at 350 for 1-11/2 hour. I notice it usually is an hour to an hour and ten minutes, take the loaf out when the edges start to pull away from the pan and top is golden but not completely cooked through, the loaf will continue cooking after it is out of the oven.

And there you are! All done, you have yummy banana bread!

Please Vote...

Today is voting day so please please please vote!
I don't care what you are voting for, who you are voting for, just as long as you vote!
It is such an awesome privilege we have so please take advantage of it!

Happy Monday!

I am feeling musical today, so here are ten songs I am loving right now. These are singing from the gut, dancing in your car like no one can see you, but they very much can and laugh very much at you, but it's ok because you just made them smile so it is worth it. My favorite is that you can sing real loud in your car and no one can hear you (well at least I hope they can't hear me).

1. "Lend me your eyes I can change what you see, but your soul you must keep totally free..."
(Are you kidding me!)
Awake My Soul
Mumford and Sons

2. "And I will hold on hope, and I won't let you choke...I'll find strength in pain and I will change my ways, I'll know my name as it's called again."
The Cave
Mumford and Sons

3. "People say that your dreams are the only things that save ya. Come on baby in our dreams, we can live on misbehavior."
Rebellion
Arcade Fire

4. "I'll dig a tunnel from my window to yours... you climb out the chimney and meet me in the middle, the middle of the town."
Neighborhood #1
Arcade Fire

5. "Songs of desperation, I played them for you, a moment, a love, a dream, a laugh, a dream, a laugh, a kiss, a cry, our rights our wrongs."
Sweet Disposition
The Temper Trap

6. "Love it will not betray you, dismay or enslave you, it will set you free..."
Sigh No More
Mumford and Sons

7. "Sweet carob rice cake, she don't care how the sweets taste, fake Philly cheese steak, but you use real toothpaste, cause if that Tom's don't work, it just makes you worse, would you lose all of your faith in the Good Earth...Baby please don't lose your faith in the Good Earth!"
California English
Vampire Weekend
(Best moment ever when they played this at their Soma show)

8. "You thought you could find happiness, just over that green hill, you thought you would be satisfied, but you never will, learn to be still."
Learn to be Still
The Eagles

9. "Rock me on the water, I'll get down to the sea somehow."
Rock Me on the Water
Jackson Browne

10. "Moats and boats and waterfalls, alley ways and pay phone calls, I've been everywhere with you. We laugh until we think we'll die, barefoot on a summer night, nothin' new is sweeter than with you."
Home
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

So enjoy your Monday, dance in your car and sing real loud,
it will make the day better I promise :)
